about

The pieces performed and recorded on this album were composed with a specific purpose in mind: to create musical underscore that provided sonic cohesion to the Peabody Award winning documentary film 'The Jazz Ambassadors (2018).

The intention was to create a score that embodied the underlying mood of the period - a period of violence, struggle, deep political changes in the world and conflicts within the USA. The period begins during the height of the Cold War and the beginning of the Civil Rights Movement, and ends with the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
